Our Women’s Health GP’s are focused on providing care to empower and strengthen your overall health.

Our GPs can also arrange rapid referral and input from one of our women’s health physiotherapists, obstetricians and gynaecologists, psychologists, dieticians or lactation consultants.

Our Women's Health GPs work closely with new mothers and our child health nurses after the birth of baby, and can assist with:

• Maternal low mood or anxiety
• Breastfeeding and breast problems
• Pelvic problems
• Unsettled babies, sleep problems, or other concerns
• Well women’s check at four months after the birth of your baby

They can also assist with:

• Pre-pregnancy counselling
• Initial assessment and management of fertility challenges
• Early pregnancy management
• Menstrual problems (painful, heavy or irregular periods)
• Pelvic pain/endometriosis
• Sexual health problems
• Unplanned pregnancy counselling
• Contraception including Implanon and IUD insertion and removal
• Cervical cancer screening tests (Pap Smear)
• STI screening and management
• Prolapse and incontinence
• Menopause
• Adolescents (Midland clinic)
• Iron infusions

Our Women’s Health Physiotherapy team is focused on providing women with the individual support and care they need to ensure that common pregnancy and postnatal complaints do not impact on their quality of life and prevent them from achieving their goals.

Our physiotherapists can assess and manage:

• Bladder leakage or urgency
• Difficulty emptying bladder or bowel
• Bowel incontinence or constipation
• Pelvic pain such as pain with intercourse
• Pelvic organ prolapse
• Rectus abdominis diastasis (abdominal separation)
• Pelvic floor muscle weakness
• Low back and pelvic pain
• Wrist and hand pain

They can also help you reach your goals by providing practical advice and programs for:

• Exercising in pregnancy
• Returning to exercise postnatally
• Pelvic floor friendly exercise for women with prolapse, incontinence and pain

Our Accredited Practising Dietitian is trained in paediatric nutrition and can provide support across all aspects of nutrition during your pregnancy including:

• Optimal pregnancy nutrition
• Healthy weight gain during your pregnancy
• Managing gestational diabetes
• History of bariatric surgery
• Iron deficiency
• Nausea and vomiting
• Vegetarian and vegan diets

In the postnatal period and beyond our Dietitian can assist with:

• Weight management
• Breastfeeding nutrition
• Your baby’s growth and nutrition
• Introducing solids to your baby
• Fussy eating

Our Dietitian will work collaboratively with you to set health goals to help you achieve long-term healthy lifestyle habits. You will be provided with education, motivation, support and monitoring for optimal health outcomes.

Learning how to manage diabetes can seem overwhelming. Our Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) provides education and support to help you continue to enjoy life while achieving your health goals.

Our CDE will work closely with you and your family to understand your health needs and motivate you to achieve optimal health and well-being and reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.

Our CDE works closely with our Allied Health Team and your GPs to ensure the best health outcomes for you and your family.

Our CDE’s primary profession is an Accredited Pharmacist and, as such, can also offer Home Medicine Reviews.

What is Gynaecology?

Gynaecology is the specialist medical and surgical treatment of the female reproductive system and overall healthcare for women. Patients may be referred to a gynaecologist by their GP for a number of reasons, many of which are routine but require specialist clinical knowledge. Gynaecological problems are common and can cause disruption to a woman’s everyday life. They can impact on quality of life, your plan for pregnancy, or be related to menopause, bleeding or pelvic pain.

At One for Women our Gynaecology team recognises that we are all individuals with different needs which require attention from a caring, sensitive, and committed team in a comfortable environment.

As there can be crossover with obstetrics and Women’s Health Physiotherapy, we offer an integrated service, with clinicians and allied health professionals in the same clinic, providing continuity of care.

We cover a comprehensive range of services in Gynaecology - all aspects of women’s health from adolescent to post-menopausal.

All patients require a GP referral prior to booking an appointment and can be seen at our Murdoch, Mt Lawley and Midland clinics.
